The AUSTRIAN MAN-MADE FIBERS INSTITUTE (AUSTRIAN-MFI) was founded in 1960 by man-made fiber producers and the Austrian textile industry with the purpose of
- promoting the market introduction of man-made fibers and products thereof
- encouraging the exchange of information and know-how between producers and processors of these raw-materials in textile, nonwoven and other applications
- establishing contacts with schools/universities and associations with the same or similar objectives
- organising the DORNBIRN MAN-MADE FIBERS CONGRESS (DORNBIRN-MFC) as a platform for the international exchange of know-how in close collaboration with CIRFS/Brussels, the umbrella association of the European man-made fiber industry.
